An oil painting of two Tahitian girls by a French post-impressionist Paul Gauguin painted in 1892, was sold for $300 million this past February to an undisclosed buyer.
Many guesses as to the buyer are on a group of state
museums in Qatar which embarked on an ambitious museum-building and art-acquisition campaign backed by the energy-rich emirates family.
